"I come from a proud family that has been involved in public service for as long as I can remember. I want to work for you. With over thirty years of government experience, I know what it takes to find solutions, navigate complicated governmental agencies, and get things done."
LIST OF ISSUES
Our roadways are currently overpopulated and run down. As a county commissioner I plan to work towards getting our major roadways widened and work towards decongesting main roadways by assisting and pushing FDOT to step up to the plate and take responsibility to better our highway system.
I plan on helping our current citizens by getting better maintenance for our current drainage infrastructure and looking at different ways to improve and enhance drainage in areas where it has historically failed. We need to not just focus on building better infrastructure in these new neighborhoods but also making sure that we are taking care of those who have lived here by proactively looking for solutions to the problems we currently face with the drainage plans. By providing better maintenance to existing systems, we can start solving the storm water issues this county faces.
As a county commissioner I pledge to move more towards quality building instead of quantity building. In the new developments I would like to promote the idea of implementing existing landscaping into these neighborhoods instead of clear-cutting entire developments or lots. This would help assist in future drainage and would help protect our heritage trees. I would also like to see a requirement for all future developments to include community parks and sidewalks. These additions would help improve the safety and well-being of our citizens.
I want to better the communication between the citizens of Santa Rosa County and the BOCC by adjusting the meeting times and places to improve attendance at meetings. This would help assist those working during the day to be able to attend meetings and have their voices heard. I would be open to suggesting holding BOCC meetings on a Saturday morning or afternoon every other month in order to be sure that all citizens feel they are able to partake in county decisions.
